Having pulled off a big achievement with the Renova Zero pod system in 2020, Vaporesso has recently launched an evolved version to push the envelope, the Zero 2. It’s hard not to amaze at the design of Vaporesso Zero 2 at our first sight. Looking like a sports-car miniature, it embodies a trendy intersection of both aesthetics and ergonomics.

Of course, Vaporesso Zero 2 has also taken steps forward in other aspects, including the pod capacity and battery. The updated Zero 2 could hold 3ml vape juices, 1ml more than the original Renova Zero. It could last longer as well with its 800mAh battery, which is a 150mAh leap in the capacity. Only the output range stays much the same—still 9W or 11W depending on the coil we use.

We’ve done weeks of tests on the Vaporesso Zero 2 to build a more comprehensive view over the new open-system pod. This review has included in all its pros and cons at every dimension. By the way, we highlight aspects we like in green, and those we don’t in red, to make your reading easier. Let’s kick it off!

Lab Result

We tested Vaporesso Zero 2 in our lab and organized the table for you if you are as curious as us. Before we continue, we would love to clarify that the result might fluctuate due to many environment reasons.

We checked Vaporesso’s official site and found out that the wattage under Mesh coil is stated to be 11W. however, our test result shows that it was 9.4W, a bit lower than the stated wattage. However, the stated wattgae of CCELL pod dosn’t have much difference compared to our result, 9W versus 8.73W (within our accepted range). The 0.9A charging rate is also acceptable. As we were testing the firing speed, we detected no delay.

Performance and Flavor – 8.5

The Vaporesso Zero 2 offers two pods for replacement in the kit, one outfitted with a 1.3Ω ceramic coil and another with a 1.0Ω mesh coil. Obviously, the pod is geared more for MTL vaping that is widely welcomed by vaping starters.

We used fruity liquid to test the two coils’ atomization performance. Talking from our experience, we have to be fairly patient with the initial coil priming for the Zero 2. The vapor flavor at the very beginning was faint. It took around 1 hour before we could squeeze the best flavor out of the juice.

Luckily, the flavor started to explode in our mouth after the coils soaked up enough juice, showing little decrease in intensity until the last minute. We didn’t find any burnt taste throughout the test. Actually we’ve had enough confidence in this point before using them, as Vaporesso’s ceramic and mesh coils couldn’t disappoint us.

Vaporesso Zero 2 is far from a personalized pod system, since every parameter has been programmed in advance. There’s neither adjustable airflow nor flexible wattage output. When we used the 1.0Ω mesh coil, the watt is automatically set at a fixed 11W, and it goes down to 9W when we installed the 1.3Ω ceramic coil.

However, we still found some slight differences in the two coils. For example, draws on the mesh coil are airier and looser than the ceramic one. Moreover, the mesh coil delivers warmer and smoother vapors. The ceramic one brings out more sweetness and gives us more noticeable throat hit, making it more suitable for MTL vaping style.

Overall Quality and Design – 9.5

Appearance-10

If you’ve got tired of the run-of-the-mill design of regular pod systems, Vaporesso Zero 2 is absolutely on point for you. It’s shaped to a mini-size streamlined sports car, well integrated with its radiant shell. The patterns on the surface could even vary with the lighting. Zero 2 also adds four arrow-like lights on the front face to indicate the battery level, which would flash in order when we take puffs. Such an avant-garde design is quite rare among existing vape hardware.

The pod’s curves and lines, meanwhile, are smooth and sleek. That gives it very comfortable grips in hands. We know how tough it could be to make a good balance between appearance and ergonomics, but the Vaporesso Zero 2 has surpassed the typical pods on both counts.

Pod-9

As we mentioned above, there’re two different pods outfitted with different coils in the Vaporesso Zero 2 kit. Both of them seal juices in very well, as we found no leakage at all throughout the test. The see-through pods can help us check the juice left inside very easily.

In addition, the pods adopt Vaporesso’s innovative push-to-fill (PTF) system, which abolishes those conventional rubber caps on the filling port. The port looks like a funnel. It opens when it feels a downward pressure from the liquid bottle tip, and closes when the pressure goes away. The special filling design has proved to be a big success by many predecessors from Vaporesso, such as the Renova Zero and Click. It’s indeed a smart idea to avoid gunky messes.

Battery-9

Compared with the Vaporesso Renova Zero, the Zero 2 takes a favorable leap in the battery capacity from 650mAh to 800mAh. What’s more, it has also replaced the micro-USB charging port of the original Zero to a Type-C one, which features larger charging current and easier insertion. We have to say that the fast charging of Vaporesso Zero 2 is out of this world—it takes about 40 minutes to get the device fully charged.

Ease of Use – 9

vaporesso zero 2 pod system kit

As Vaporesso Zero 2 has neither buttons nor switchable modes, anybody can use them hands down. It’s a pod device simpler than ever.

However, from another point of view, such extreme easy operations must go hand in hand with the sacrifice of customization. Vaporesso Zero 2 offers only two fixed output wattages, 9W for the 1.3Ω pod and 11W for the 1.0Ω pod. They’re set in advance with no chances for adjustment. We know Renova Zero is a super handy device as well, but at least both of its pods are respectively engineered with three output watts and we can choose among them by pressing a button.

The good news is that the pods of Vaporesso Zero 2 are both compatible with the Renova Zero. If you happen to have owned the original one, investing in the Zero 2 would unlock some new possibilities for you.

Price – 9

MSRP: $32.9

Element Vape: $27.99

For your information, the price of Vaporesso Renova Zero is $16.99 right now at Element Vape with the MSRP of $29.90.

It’s reasonable to sell a pod system at $30 or so, thus we have nothing to complain about the pricing of the Vaporesso Zero 2. Maybe it’s not the most cost effective option considering its max output power and versatility. However, we believe its novel design would lure vapers who love beautiful-looking products into paying for it anyway.

Overall Thoughts

The Vaporesso Zero 2 represents an intertwining of aesthetic design and remarkable performance. It’s an intuitive pod system—all we have to do with it is taking puffs from the mouthpiece. We’re also impressed by all its advances in contrast with the original Renova Zero. The biggest drawback in the Vaporesso Zero 2 is its lack of customization, as we cannot adjust its output power and modes either.

Have you tried the Vaporesso Zero 2 yet? If yes, please share your thoughts with us here; if not, do you want to have a try now? We hope this review is helpful for you!
