Build Quality and Design
The Dotmod dotStick Starter Kit is a nicely built mod thanks to its durable aluminium-alloy chassis construction. Combining lightweight portability with artistic flare and eye-catching design, it comes with a portable size of 122mm by 22mm (18650 battery) or 92mm by 22mm (18350 battery). The Dotmod dotStick Starter Kit features an intuitive firing button, which is clicky and responsive. It boasts a standard 510 connection, allowing you to use your favourite tank atomizers with a 22mm diameter.
The dotStick has an LED indicator light ring, which indicates battery level, dry burn and protection. When the vape juice level is getting low, the device will switch off the power supply to prevent the coil from burn hit and preserve the functional life span.
Functions and Top Features
Powered by a single high-amp 18350 battery or optional 18650 battery with an extension tube, the Dotmod dotStick Starter Kit maintains top-tier efficiency through the vaping experience. The battery is recharged via a micro-USB port. If you want to preserve the battery’s life, it is better to use an external charger.
It features a three-tiered power output of Soft, Medium and Strong. This allows the user to select between the four power outputs, from bypass to a max of 27W. With the Bypass mode, you can install a dripper or any rebuildable tank with a 22mm diameter. The LED Battery Light Ring indicates different modes and voltages: Green LED indicates 27W output, White LED indicates bypass mode, Blue LED indicates 24W and Red LED indicates 20W output. You can press the fire button 3 times to activate the LED. The LED around the fire button also indicates the remaining battery life as follows:
- Green : 61 – 100%
- Blue : 21 – 60%
- Red : 1 – 20%
Dotmod dotStick Sub-Ohm Tank
The Dotmod dotStick Starter Kit is paired with the DotStick Sub-Ohm tank, which is 22mm in diameter and can fit up to 2mL of juice. It utilizes an easy spring-loaded bottom filling style. It utilizes the Press-Fit Coil Installation for easy operation. The Dotmod dotStick Starter Kit is also compatible with the SMOK Nord Coils, adopts Quarter Turn Airflow Removal and Dual Slotted Airflow Control Ring to help users to find their favourite flavour.
Performance
I prefer to use the 18350 battery in this kit as it comes in a tiny size. I started with the 0.4ohm coil with the airflows fully open. It was a decent vape with great steam production and tasty flavour. As the power goes higher (20/24/27W), the vapour, temperature and flavour will become more noticeable! I also tested the 1.0ohm between the different powers (10/11/12W). It is a very tight draw with the airflow open on 1 or 2 holes.
Verdict
Overall, the Dotmod DotStick is a versatile starter kit, allowing you to switch between a pod system and a tank. Compatible with a single 18350 or 18650 battery, it is a powerful kit that produces plenty of flavours.
