Introduction

Freemax has recently released the intriguing Marvos 60W pod mod kit that features three.0-proof technology (waterproof, dustproof and shockproof). Its output wattage ranges from 5-60W. It has a 2000mAh built-in battery specially designed for vaping all day long, and a pod that holds 4.5 mL liquid. The pod mod’s surface presents a charming combination of zinc alloy and silicone rubber, with four colors to choose from.

Generally, the Marvos 60W pod mod seems to be a big leap from the previous Marvos 80W both in tech and design. Then how about this new kit’s performance? Is the device a real winner with no frills or not? We’ve done weeks of tests on the product, and summarized its pros and cons in this review. Let’s see if there are things that hit you! If you are interested in Freemax product, don’t miss out the Freemax Maxpod circle pod kit review. You can also check the last review we did on Uwell Havok V1 65W pod mod.

In this review, we highlight aspects we like in green, and those we don’t in red.

Test on Power, Battery, and Voltage

In this part, we firstly tested on several indicators of Marvos 60W users might be curious about. For example, since the device boasts a “Real 2000mAh Battery” in the ads, does it support the whole-day vaping? Does it have the output wattage it claims? And how about the charging rate? You can check the chart below and find our test results!

Freemax Marvos 60w

The charging rate we tested is 1.9A, a bit lower than the stated 2.0A. It might because the power level is high. This also makes us think the 2,000mAh battery is so good that after we used for several days, the power level was still high. We also found that the real time output power fluctuated. The difference is within 3W, and we think this is acceptable.

Performance – 9

We organized a table as below where you can find our thoughts on the product’s performance after use. Click Here for more details.

Performance Highlight Coil Coil Type Favored Power by MVR Editors Chosen E-liquid Thoughts
Great flavor, big clouds, obvious sweetness 0.25Ω Mesh 40-60W Jasmine Flavored E-liquid, 20mg Both coils deliver great flavor.
0.35Ω Mesh 5-40W
Pod Life span Flavor Loss Burnt Flavor Leakage
5 Refills No No A bit leakage after set still for 3 days.
Airflow System Very well designed airflow adjustment, can hardly draw when the inlet is closed.

Generally, the pod mod shows satisfying performance. The vapor produced at high wattage is quite dense. The flavor is sweet, rich and robust, without any burnt taste. What’s more, there’s seldom flavor loss. Even after 3rd refills, it still tastes as good as how it was in the first place. But here we have to give a con for the anti spitback tech it stated – spitback still occurred when the pod mod was unused overnight, only a smaller one. A bit of leakage was also found at the bottom of the pod after 3-day use.

Function – 9

Marvos 60W has some really competitive functions, such as the key lock function. When we press the up and down buttons at the same time, the virtual lock can be configured in case of any firing by accident. Besides, it does well in avoiding dry hit. When we press the fire button five times consecutively to power off the device, only the first pressing triggers firing. This protective design also applies when we press the fire button three times to switch modes. All in all, it’s really good to help coils hold up longer.

The screen display is great as well, as we can find most information we’d like to know there, including the duration of each puff, power, voltage, resistance and puff counter. The screen offers five different colors, blue, yellow, green, red and white, for customized display.

The pod mod is designed with three modes: power, smart and bypass mode. However, there’s no TC or memory mode, which may disappoint some users.

Overall Quality and Design – 8

Weight and Design

With the three-proof tech, the device is stout in hand. What really hit us is its surface design – some parts of the surface are shiny, somehow making the device look exquisite. It makes a good balance between durable quality and light appearance. The pod mod offers four colors to choose from, black, blue, gunmetal and red. We got the black and gunmetal one, and they both look nice.

However, Marvos 60W fails to give us diversifying choices in the mouthpiece. Personally, I prefer to use different mouthpieces depending on varied wattage levels. For example, at lower wattage, smaller mouthpiece is a better option as it can deliver deeper and richer flavor.

Airflow

On one hand, Marvos 60W’s airflow control system has favorable design in the air inlet. When the air inlet are completely closed off, we could hardly force any vapor out. Freemax must have made some efforts to achieve such good sealing property. On the other, the slide control design somewhat troubles us. We fancy the idea about using a slide to fine-tune the airflow at our desire, but in practice we felt high resistance in moving the slide. The resistance even caused finger pains when we moved the slide frequently. But we’re not sure whether this is a common issue, since we got only one device for tests. We’re looking forward to your comments about it.

Pod

The pod is connected with the device with magnets, which is a user-friendly design. We don’t have to make efforts to screw as we do for those conventional 510 vape cartridges. In addition, the pod is transparent, so we can easily see the liquid level.

The only problem here is about liquid refilling. After we stick the coil in the pod, a small part of the coil is still left sticking out. And this part stands so close to the refill port that we must slightly tilt the pod to do smooth refilling. Of course, it’s not sweaty work to tilt a pod. But we still prefer easier, simpler operation.

Battery

In terms of the battery, the Marvos 60W nails it. Its built-in 2000mAh battery is more than enough to last at least whole day. We tested the rate and it’s 1.9A, a bit lower than the stated 2.0A. It’s also equipped with a Type-C charger. We don’t have to worry about bringing 18650 batteries with us anymore.

Ease of Use – 8

Operation and Button

The manual gives clear guide to different operations, such as key lock, mode switch and puff clear. And we found no difficulty in following the guide to use the device. Simply put, it’s a device easy to use. We have attached some operations below for you to check:

Key lock: Pressing up and down buttons together

Mode switch: Pressing fire button for 3 consecutive times

Puff clear: Pressing up and fire buttons together

Color change: Pressing down and fire buttons together

Speaking of the buttons, Marvos 60W’s buttons are hard and clicky. We hear clear clicks every time we press the buttons.

Price – 8

Freemax Marvos 60W Pod Mod Kit Price:

MSRP: $59.99

Elmentvape: $49.99

Freemax Marvos T Replacement Pod Price:

MSRP: $11.99

Elementvape: $7.99 (4.5mL PCTG), $8.99 (4mL Glass)

Freemax Marvos 60W starter kit is priced a bit higher than other 60W starter kit. However, considering the design and its built quality, it is still a very good buy. (Who doesn’t love big colorful screen?) Moreover, if you buy at elementvape.com, the discounted price is very reasonable.

Tri-Proof

Since Freemax Marvos 60W is a tri-proof device, we tested it in the dust and water. We also threw it to the ground to see if it’s real shock-proof.

We threw Marvos 60W kit from 1m height table multiple times. It survived from the shock. There was no trace of scracth on the device body and screen. Then, we threw sand to the device (with no pod on). Then we washed the sand off from the device and put it into water tank for a few minutes. After wiping the water off, Marvos 60 worked like before and everything was just fine! Now we think you can call it a real tri-proof device.

Overall Thoughts

In general, Marvos 60W is a good option for beginners. It produces dense vapor which carries rich sweet flavor. Its battery is totally enough for whole-day vaping if we’re out and about. The design is attractive in some ways, such as the magnet pod connection and shiny surface. But when it comes to the coil that sticks out and the airflow slide, we do have some tiny complaints. At last, its operation is easy to understand, and the price is $59.99
