Body
The Geekvape Sonder U elevates the traditional pod vape pen style with a visually crisp-looking body. The body is a matte textured plastic, which makes for a great tactile hand feel. The front of the device includes a shiny metallic plaque with the Sonder branding. Just under the plaque is a small LED that lights up when inhaling or charging the device. The Geekvape branding is embossed vertically along the back of the pod system.
The Geekvape Sonder U is available in 8 beautiful colors: Black, Pink, Gray, Celeste Gaze, Wine Red, Majestic Sky, Light Green, and White.
On the right side of the device, located near the top, you’ll find the Type-C charging port. The Sonder U kit doesn’t come with any charging cable, but you can use any standard Type-C cable you have access to.
Pod Cartridge
The Sonder U pods (aka U pods) are refillable and have a 2mL capacity. Each refillable pod contains a 0.7-ohm mesh coil for superior flavor delivery and smooth hits and can be refilled roughly 5x for a lifetime use of 10mL per pod. And the pods are made of black-tinted transparent plastic so that you can keep a close eye on the e-juice level within the pod. Strong magnets secure the pods to the Geekvape Sonder U body.
The U pods are refilled by removing the silicone stopper located just under the mouthpiece. The side-fill port makes it easy to refill the pods without making a mess. The pod mouthpiece is a standard duckbill-style mouthpiece found in other popular pod systems like the Smok Nord 4.
Battery & Charging
Geekvape Sonder U includes a high-capacity 1000mAh battery with an exceptional staying power of up to 2 days of battery life. This places the device far above many mid to low-range pod systems and is a great addition to an already fantastic device. You will spend less time tied to a charging cable and have more freedom to enjoy your vape on the go.
The Geekvape Sonder U is easily rechargeable using a Type-C charging cable and plugging it into the port located on the right side of the device. The mod charges fairly quickly for such a large battery, and you can expect a full charge in about 45 minutes. The LED on the front of the device will light up during charging. You can also continue to vape when the pod vape is charging, a feature that is not available with all vapes.
Durability
While the Geekvape Sonder U pod system is a beautiful device that offers a delightful vaping experience, we’re unsure about its long-term durability. The device is extremely lightweight, which is partly due to the nature of the plastic body. The plastic is not as sturdy as we’d like and when the pod is removed the top of the mod flexes without much pressure. If this device was stepped on with enough force or dropped without the pod installed, we could definitely see it cracking.
The Geekvape Sonder U also appears to have some void space within the body, as it sounds slightly hollow when you tap along the back of the device.
Does the Geekvape Sonder U leak?
Pod vapes are sometimes leaky little devices, but this isn’t the case with the Sonder U. There was no leakage or spit-back observed when testing this device. We felt very comfortable carrying it around in my pocket, knowing it wouldn’t leak e-juice all over our clothing.
