Geekvape Aegis Pod 2 came out a few days ago. If you are interested in what’s new about this new vape, you can check out our brief comparison between these two. Geekvape AP2 is a starter vape with sub-ohm coil. Whether we can have the comparable sub-ohm vaping like mod vapes, let’s explore this baby with us now!
We highlight aspects we like in green, and those we don’t in red, to make your reading easier.

Design & Quality & Ease of Use – 7
Device
There are 8 colors in total. We got the grey camo. The device body is made of alloy, rubber, and faux leather, which is also fingerprint proof. The rubber on each side adds a lot of grips and protection, but it doesn’t feel that nice and smooth in hand. The overall design looks like a car key. It has some weight in hand.
Since AP2 is a member of the Aegis series, it is a very tough vape. We tried to drop it for a few times, and we didn’t find any scratch on the alloy part. The rubber also provides some cushion when dropped.
AP2 is an open-system pod vape. It doesn’t have many fancy functions and features. AP2 supports power adjustment. There are 3 output power levels. To switch between levels, just click the fire buttons 3 times. Here are the indicators:
Low power – White light
Medium power – Blue light
High power – Green light
One thing we don’t like about it is the light indicator. After we chose the medium and low power, when we were vaping, the light was still green, which was confusing. We suspected if we successfully switched the power.
Moreover, if you want to lock the button, just press the fire button 5 times. You can still enjoy vaping without the button, which is a plus for us.
Pod
Design
The PCTG pod has 4.5mL large capacity. It’s dark-tinted but easy for us to check the liquid level. The mouthpiece is flat yet thick, which seems to be designed for sub-ohm vaping. Pod and device are not connected by magnet. Geekvape adds a small bump on the pod to increase the tightness. They are connected so tight that to pull out/put back in the pod requires some effort.
For the juice filling system, Geekvape AP2 applies the side filling. Just plug the pod out, you can find a silicone pad. The filling hole is large for filling. Though we prefer top filling system, the side filling of AP2 can satisfy our needs. Leakage wasn’t found during use.
The coil is replaceable. You can use the coil tool provided in the box to remove the coil. It took very little effort to do so. However, we tried it by hands and we could remove it easily as well. If you have long nails and don’t want to risk breaking them (very little possibility), you can use the coil tool. Otherwise, if you don’t care and don’t want to keep your eye on this little tiny tool, just use your hand.

Airflow
Geekvape Aegis Pod 2, compared with Aegis Pod, is airflow adjustable, which makes vaping more versatile. However, the control is a bit complicated. Instead of having a button on the device or a wheel on the pod, the airflow can be adjusted by which side you put your pod into the device. The instruction is shown below:
The airflow inlets are in-between the pod and device.
- First, find the small hole on the bottom of your pod.
- If you want MTL (small airflow), then match the small hole with the hole in the device.
- If you want DTL (big airflow), then align it with the protruded screw.
Therefore, vapers have only two options on the airflow: either MTL or DTL.
Battery
AP2 is powered by a 900mAh built-in battery, which has 100mAh more capacity than Aegis Pod. It lasted around 4 days and took us about 1 and a half hour to fully charge it.
Performance – 7
We used VG 50 vape juice with 30mg nicotine. AP2 comes into 2 coils. One is 0.8Ω and the other is 0.6Ω (installed). The flavor, in general, was delivered very well. However, we didn’t feel much difference between MTL and DL. The DL vaping was a restricted sub-ohm vaping. Also, we didn’t experience obvious change between power levels.
Price
Geekvape Aegis Pod 2 (AP2) is sold for $29.99. The price is reasonable.
Pod price: $4.99 (2pcs) with no coil.
Verdict
To be fair, Geekvape Aegis Pod 2 disappointed us a bit. Even though the flavor performance was nice, it was just above average. We couldn’t tell the difference between airflows and power levels, which were two big downsides. Moreover, the airflow switching was inconvenient. We had hard time finding out which airflow we were at. Though we admit the switching was like an innovation, it added up our work to match the pod and device. Also, the light indicator of each mode didn’t match with the mode, which was confusing.
In our perspective, apart from the performance, it is crucial for vape brands to make an easy-to-use (operate friendly) product. If you already had Aegis Pod and you loved using it, you can stay with it with no worries.
