VAAL doesn’t disappoint with the flavor selection for the VaalMax disposables. With 16 bold and delicious flavors, there is something for everyone. VaalMax has the fruity, icy, and dessert flavor profiles covered. You’ve even got a great tobacco flavor option.
The flavors match very accurately to their names. When you’re vaping a pineapple flavor, it’s definitely pineapple. When you’re vaping the peach mango flavor, it’s definitely peach-mango. You’re not going to get baited with a flavor and have it taste completely off. The Vaal Max performs so well in this area, that I’d recommend the disposable based on the flavors alone.
Best Vaal Max Flavor
#1 Tobacco
It’s uncanny how close these tastes are to actual tobacco. The tobacco flavor hits on the exhale, just like with a cigarette or cigar. As an ex-smoker, I really enjoyed this earthy flavor. Would recommend it to anyone that uses vaping as smoking cessation, because it will curb your cigarette cravings. There is no menthol to the flavor. If you never smoked, you will probably NOT enjoy this flavor.
#2 Pineapple Ice
Wow, this flavor is incredible. The pineapple flavor is spot on. The ice isn’t overwhelming, it just adds to the refreshing pineapple flavor. Highly recommend this intense pineapple flavor. You won’t find any weird aftertaste with this one.
#3 Mint
Bold flavor that hits mint right on the head. This mint flavor is incredible and I vaped it most often. Highly recommend it to any vapers that love icy minty flavors.
#4 Double Apple
This flavor is aptly named. Double Apple hits with a sour and icy apple (maybe granny smith) on the inhale. The apple flavor on the exhale will remind you of an apple jolly rancher. I loved this flavor and highly recommend you try it.
Worst Vaal Max Flavor
#1 Mixed Berries
Delicious hits with the flavors of blueberries, strawberries, and raspberries. Nice flavor but doesn’t stand out as anything special.
#2 Gummy Candy
The flavor profile for this one is complete, but I taste hints of coconut and maybe guava. Also reminds me of the peach from Peach Mango. There’s a hint of ice that is common in VaalMax’s flavors. This one is not my favorite and I probably wouldn’t select it for an everyday vape.
Other Flavor
Peach Mango
Bold and crisp mango and peach flavors without any extras to detract. I don’t taste any hints of ice, just pure unadulterated peach, and mango. If you enjoy either of these flavors, you’re sure to love this one.
Aloe Grape
I’ll be honest, I don’t know what aloe tastes like, so I can tell if it’s there. The grape flavor is very sweet but almost too similar to grape-flavored medicine. This one is harder for me to hit on all day, because of how sweet it leaves your palette. There’s a nice amount of ice on the exhale if you enjoy that.
Lush Ice
Juicy watermelon flavor floods your mouth with each hit. Hints of ice on the inhale but very little on the exhale. When I vape a watermelon ice flavor, I expect more ice than is found in this flavor.
Strawberry Ice Cream
The sweet strawberry flavor hits on the front with the ice cream flavor following on the backside. I’m not a fan of cream flavors, but this flavor tastes just like strawberry ice cream. Recommend for any lovers of dessert flavors.
Strawberry Kiwi
Strawberry flavor on the front with tarter kiwi flavor as an end note. The slightly tart kiwi note on the end is a nice touch if you don’t like an overly sweet flavor left on your tongue. Could easily vape all day.
Ice Skittles/Rainbow Sugar
This flavor was tough to figure out. The only flavor I can really note is grape. Ice Skittles has a nice refreshing ice flavor. I enjoy this flavor and could vape all day, but it doesn’t stand out among the crowd.
Banana Ice
I dreaded trying this flavor because I usually hate banana vape flavors. When I finally gave it a try, I was pleasantly surprised! The banana flavor is really delicious, tasting somewhat like a fresh banana and banana-flavored candy. The ice is a nice touch.
Cotton Candy
The cotton candy flavor is more complex than I expected. There’s definitely a cotton candy element on the exhale, but it seems like they added something fruity or creamy as well. Reminiscent on the backend of the Strawberry Ice Cream flavor. Enjoyable, but not overly sweet.
Blueberry Ice
Really nice blueberry flavor. The ice is pronounced but doesn’t detract from the refreshing blueberry flavor. The sweetness of the blueberry hits first followed by the tarter side of the blueberry flavor. One of the better blueberry flavors I’ve tried.
Mango Ice
Once again VAAL Max hits the mango flavor perfectly. The icy tones are mild. There’s a creamy flavor that hits the front, followed by the strong juicy mango flavor. Mango flavors are never my favorite, but this one is good and might surprise you.
Design & Quality
Packaging
The Vaal Max disposable vapes arrive in a cylindrical plastic tube, topped with a silicone lid. Remove the plastic wrapping and pop off the lid to access the vape. Before you can hit the vape, remove the silicone stopper, meant to protect freshness during shipping and storage. There is also a sticker on the bottom, covering the airflow holes, that needs to be removed.
Design
The Vaal Max disposable vape has a cylindrical vape body and cylindrical mouthpiece. Each disposable is colored to match the flavor. The Vaal Max is styled with a bold graffiti-style art wrap that reads VAAL and the flavor name. This body design is nice, but the art style isn’t for everyone. The top, bottom, and mouthpiece are all black. The vape won’t tip over easily, but is completely cylindrical and may roll off tables. It’s a great-looking vape as long as you like the art style.
The mouthpiece is a little short for my liking. It’s not as easy as some other mouthpieces, for creating a good seal with your lips.
Vaal Max disposables have no purposeful airflow control. There are two air holes in the bottom of the device. You can artificially reduce the airflow by covering the larger hole when vaping. VAAL has included airflow control in other disposables, like the Draco, and it would have been a nice addition to this device.
Durability
I dropped the Vaal Max multiple times from different heights, up to 5 feet, and it held up well. No cracking, chipping, or pieces popped off. If you’re a clumsy person, you won’t have to worry when using them.
Does the Vaal Max leak?
I tried my hardest to get the Vaal Max to leak, but these vapes are solid. If you remove the cover surrounding the mouthpiece, you will find two very secure silicon stoppers. These stoppers prevent any fluid from leaking. Theoretically, you could also refill through these stoppers but I wouldn’t recommend this. The Vaal Max is great for on-the-go because you won’t have to worry about vape juice leaking into your pockets or in your car.
Ergonomics
The Vaal Max feels great in your hand and should be easily usable for even those with larger hands. Holding 8 ml of juice, there’s a slight weight to the vape, but would definitely not categorize as heavy. You should have no issues carrying 2-3 in your pockets or a purse.
Battery and Charging
The VaalMax disposable has a mid-sized battery, comparable to many larger disposables, at 800mAh. The 850mAh battery lasts roughly 8 hours with continuous use.
With 8 ml of vape juice, you’ve got to have a way to recharge the device to use up all that juice. VaalMax disposables come with a USB-C charging port, which is great to see. This is an upgrade over the micro-USB port found in their Draco vapes. I recharged the battery multiple times, over the course of the review period. The vape charges to full in less than an hour. There is a red LED indicator that turns on when charging and turns off when the device is fully charged.
The battery doesn’t last as long as I’d like, but the quick charging time helps make up for this.
Performance
The flavor and hit experience match ValMaxx’s impressive flavor range. The VaalMax is a sub-ohm device with a coil resistance of 0.7 ohms. This device includes VAAL’s WideWick technology, which is supposed to intake and lock in the e-juice to provide a bold and pleasant flavor. The WideWick seems to work well, the flavors that are delivered are full-bodied and delicious. The VaalMax heats rapidly, delivering a pleasant warm draw with its dual mesh coil. Many of the flavors have a cooling element and it’s a nice contrast. The e-juice contains a nicotine strength of 1.7%, far below that of most disposables on the market.
The VaalMax is advertised as a direct to lung (DTL) draw. Personally, I’d categorize the VaalMax as a tight MTL into a DTL. As a result, this vape would be better for experienced vapers that are used to a DTL draw. The vapor clouds are decent for a disposable device, without being too dense. The draw sensor is very responsive and a very light draw delivers an MTL experience.
Price
The Vaal Max disposable vape is priced at $19.99 on Mi-Pod. Other online pricing for the Vaal Max ranges from $16 to $20. Compared to the Vaporlax Draco, you’re getting 8 mL less of e-juice for the same price. I assume the reasoning behind this is the dual-mesh and DTL experience. Regardless, if you’re in the market for a rechargeable DTL disposable with mouthwatering flavors, then this price point is decent.
Verdict
The bold graffiti art style makes this disposable stand out, but the intense flavors and great DTL hits will keep you reaching for the VaalMax, again and again. In my humble opinion, the flavors offered by VaalMax are top-tier. You’re sure to find something you want to vape all day. The direct-to-lung draw is great thanks to the 0.7-ohm dual mesh coil. The hits are warm, the flavor is bold, and vapor is notable for a disposable. Slip a few in your pocket and with the 8-hour battery life, you’ll be set for the day.
