Introduction
SMOK has earned a big name and covers almost every area of vaping industry, from vape tanks, pod kits to advanced mods. Their coils are also welcomed by worldwide vapers, such as the RPM2 range. They have released a new vape kit Scar-Mini, which is a compact version of the Smok Scar. Powered by a 18650 battery, it features an adjustable wattage from 1-80W. It is compatible with the TFV9 mesh coils to deliver some pretty good flavour. How does this vape perform? Let’s check it out:
Build Quality and Design
The SMOK Scar Mini features a compact design that feels quite solid in the hand, standing at 130.9mm by 50mm by 25.5mm. It is constructed by zinc-alloy chassis construction and wrapped in a black rubber layer, which can prevent the device from damage if it is accidentally dropped. The iconic leather handle is very comfortable to hold.
The SMOK Scar-Mini supports variable wattage and it is very easy to use this kit. It adopts the locking mechanism of the top cap to keep children away from the tank and prevent accidental leakage of e-liquid. The 0.69inch screen is bright and crisp, clearly displaying real-time vaping statuses, such as wattage, voltage, coil resistance and battery level.
The SMOK Scar-Mini boasts a 510 connection with a gold-plated and spring-loaded pin. It can accommodate atomizers up to 25mm in diameter without any overhang. The instant fire button and two adjustment buttons positioned well and work nicely.
SMOK Scar-Mini Operation:
- Turn On/ Off: 5 clicks of the FIRE button
- Adjust Wattage: press the UP/ DOWN buttons
- Reset Puff Counter: press the FIRE & DOWN buttons simultaneously
SMOK TFV9 Mini Tank
The TFV9 Mini Tank is a smaller version of the TFV9 tank. It comes with well build thanks to its superior stainless steel tank construction. The TFV9 Mini Tank can hold up to 3mL vape juice and measures 55.8mm by 23mm. It adopts a convenient top-fill design and there’s no leaking when I refilled the tank.
The kit includes a Delrin 510 drip tip and two Smok V9 Meshed coils rated for 40 -90w. I tested the coil with some fruity flavour with a 70VG/30PG ratio. The airflow works well to provide a comfortable vaping experience. I can get the best result when rated for 60w and fully open the airflow. It was a slightly warm and restrictive DTL vape, which is just what I’m looking for!
How to fill with E-liquids
- Step 1: hold the tank, lift the top cap and then turn it counterclockwise to open the filling port.
- Step 2: insert the nozzle of an e-liquid refill container into the filling port.
- Step 3: lift the top cap and turn it clockwise firmly until you hear a “click” sound.
Battery Performance
The SMOK Scar-Mini runs on a single 18650 battery, which is sold separately. It can last about three to a whole day dependant on the wattage and the capacity of the battery. I have been using it for a few weeks and I can get at least 6-7 hours of use from a decent battery. The Scar-Mini uses onboard USB Type-C charging, but I prefer to uses the external charger as it can extend the battery life.
Verdict
To be honest, I love what the SMOK has done with the SMOK Scar-Mini. It is a really great looking and solid device that feels high-end in the hand. Paired with the TFV9 Mini Tank and compatible with the TFV9 coil series to provide an enjoyable vaping. If you asked would I recommend this kit? I would say this is definitely a powerful kit that worth picking up.
