Made by the sophisticated vape manufacturer Voopoo, the Argus GT Mod is a release that has taken the market by storm. Although some of their previous launches weren’t especially well-received, the Voopoo Vinci’s release changed all that, and the launch of Voopoo Argus GT has taken the brand to a new level of success.

The kit comes complete with the box mod itself, a modular PnP tank, a charging cable, a user manual, and two coil heads to get you started. So, what can you expect from this mod vape? Is it a good purchase? We tried it out on your behalf, and bring up all its pros and cons in this review.

Design & Quality

Mod

We found the Voopoo Argus GT mod itself to be the best feature of the kit. It’s a good-looking mod with a slick and sleek design that is surprisingly compact for being a dual-battery device. The build quality is certainly premium, and its design gives the device a high-end aesthetic that’s hard to beat.

With measurements of just 52 mm x 86 mm x 26 mm, this device is small, ergonomic, and convenient to take anywhere. Its high-quality cover made from leather, its stylish metallic frame, and its color display gives it the feel and look of an expensive mod.

The standard 510 connection features a spring-loaded, gold-plated pin that is compatible with atomizers up to a maximum of 25 mm in diameter without looking awkward.

Voopoo Argus GT has a simple yet intuitive control panel with a satisfying to use fire button, + and – buttons, and an attractive color screen with crisp, bright colors and a good resolution.

All in all, the design of the mod is very pleasing, and it’s a pleasant device to use.

Tank

The mod’s paired tank is quite unusual, being a modular design with a plastic tank and 510 adapters. The airflow control ring gives us the chance to customize our vape to our preferences. The tank is compatible with the Voopoo plug & play coils, and two are supplied with the kit so we can choose your experience.

One coil is 0.2 ohm and is rated for 40 to 60W. The other is 0.15 ohm and is rated at 60 to 80 watts. Filling the tank is also very simple by just removing the rubber plug, which is convenient and user-friendly. If you prefer, you can switch to a tank of your choice, but note that a larger tank will overhang the mod and may look quite awkward.

Battery & Charging

The hinged battery door of Voopoo Argus GT mod clicks easily into place, and although it feels a little flimsy, it seems to stand up to use well. This device has external dual 18650 batteries, so it can be hard to estimate their remaining battery life.

The good news, though, is that the GENE chip does a good job when it comes to conserving the battery life as much as possible, and depending on your vaping style you could get up to ten hours from a fully charged device. Thanks to the supplied Type C USB charging cable, we can either charge the batteries separately or use the device for pass-through vaping, although that isn’t really recommended as it can damage the overall lifespan of our batteries.

Function

Somewhat surprisingly, the Voopoo Argus GT is fairly toned down when compared to its older siblings. The RBA Mode is a basic wattage mode that comes without any preheat options, while the Smart Mode automatically sets the wattage for you based on the resistance.

There is also a Temperature Control mode for TI, SS, and Ni200, but there isn’t a TCR mode, although it’s possible to adjust the TCR when using preset modes. There is no volt mode, power curve, or preheat options, so if you want a more customized experience, you may be dissatisfied, although this is still a very functional device.

This mod vape also comes with all the protection you’d expect including protection from overheating, shorting, and overcharging.

Performance

As this device has a low amp limit, the 160W rating isn’t the best with this Voopoo Argus GT mod, so if you want to vape at high wattage, this may not be the right device for you. However, on the upside, it’s possible to adjust the mod in increments of one watt, which is speedy and convenient.

The flavor produced by this device is very good, whichever coil you decide to use, and thanks to the easily adjustable airflow, it’s easy to customize your experience to suit either an MTL or DTL vaping style.

Ease of Use

As some of the features have been left off this device when compared with some of Voopoo’s other models, it’s a little simpler to get to grips with. It’s easy to refill the tank, set the device up, and get started, with only a small learning curve when it comes to adjusting the wattage or settings.

The screen is clear and user-friendly, making it simple to see and utilize, and with the simple controls, even a novice will have no difficulty using this device.

Price

The Voopoo Argus GT kit comes in at around twice the price of the earlier Voopoo models, the Drag S and the Drag X but it also offers a more stylish and well-designed mod with a little more customizability than its older siblings. It’s aimed at a mid-range market, and it offers a level of performance to match. While it isn’t a top-performing device, it’s a cut above the basic models and is worth its price tag.

Verdict

With its stylish good looks and its relatively user-friendly design, there’s a lot to like about the Voopoo Argus GT mod kit. Although it isn’t the highest performing device on the market, it’s a solid contender at its price point, and with its high-end look and feel, it gives the impression of being a much more expensive device than it really is.
