E-cigarettes have recently become very popular among people worldwide because they can help reduce the intake of harmful substances, though it’s essential to make sure they are high quality. This is mainly because some might contain high levels of Nicotine in comparison to the stated levels by the EU tobacco legislation.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) recently found that a particular brand of e-cigarette made by Aroma King was unsafe and could harm people. However, the manufacturer insists that their products are tested and completely safe.

Aroma King has come under fire from the HSE for selling e-cigarettes with high nicotine levels. The products are still on sale in many shops, but the HSE has urged people to stop using them immediately.

The HSE has also asked the retail shops to seize the sale of this product. According to HSE, this product included some flavors with high nicotine levels such as Unicorn Shake, Grape Energy, and Strawberry Ice. These changes have come about due to the discovery that some of the products produced by the Aroma King range do not comply with EU tobacco legislation.

HSE researched 46 Aroma King disposable e-cigarettes. After the analysis, the results were that they have a higher nicotine concentration of up to 50.4mg/ml, higher than 20mg/ml, which is the permitted level by the law.

NATCO (National Tobacco Control Office) carried out this research after discovering the increase of Nicotine in numerous products. An alert was submitted to the Safety Gate by the NATCO (National Tobacco Control Office) about increasing Nicotine in various products. The recommended level of Nicotine was under 20mg/ml by the legislation.

This research shows that the e-cigarettes found contained between two and twenty times more Nicotine than previously thought. The study also indicates that one cartridge of some e-cigarette brands contains enough Nicotine to kill an adult.

Dr. Maurice Mulcahy, the regional chief environmental officer, advised the public to take precautionary measures, check their e-cigarettes and confirm they are not among the given list of the products involved in the alert. They added that if anyone had one of the products on the list, they were supposed to return it to the shop they bought it for a refund. They said that if any of the users of the products involved felt unwell, they should inform their GP at the first point of contact.

All relevant retailers are required to check whether the products they sell contain higher levels of nicotine than the standard value. If they have distributed any of these products have also been urged to recall the product by displaying a recall notice on their retail premises or website.
