Voopoo is launching two new powerful mod kits, the Voopoo Argus MT and XT. The two kits are very much alike from basic specifications to the feature set they offer. The only key difference is the battery system: MT runs on a 3000mAh internal battery whereas XT uses a single external 18650/21700 battery. That in turn causes a difference in the two’s sizes, but not a notable one. Furthermore, the color options available by them are not completely identical, both coming in the tough style though, capable of surviving a rugged lifestyle.
In essence, the final buying decision on the two products depends on what kind of battery you need: either a convenient built-in one or a more powerful, longer-lasting one. Today we’re looking at the Voopoo Argus MT, which is intended to get you started with a device designed to go the distance. The vape mod includes the new Gene. TT 2.0 chip to deliver the best vape performance like the earlier Voopoo Argus GT II mod.

The Voopoo Argus MT comes packaged in an industrial-looking tin case, with a cover sleep displaying the device information.
Argus MT Box Mod
The VooPoo Argus MT box mod design will feel familiar if you have used other mod vapes on the Voopoo Argus line. It doesn’t reinvent the wheel but instead improves on an existing form factor. The main body is a hexagon shape with rounded edges, with an industrial feel.
The front of the device juts out to contain the screen, draw button, plus and minus arrows, and Type-C charging port. The back of the device, where your hand rests is covered in a supple leather-like covering, with the Argus MT name embossed. There is also a place to attack a lanyard on the back of the body.
We received the Pearl White color option, but you can also find the mod device in Dark Blue, Graphite, Carbon Fiber, and Lime Green. By the design of Voopoo Argus MT, it’s very obviously intended to be a highly durable device. Overall the body is very sleek and beautifully designed.
MAAT Tank New
MAAT Tank New, Voopoo’s newest sub-ohm tank provided by both the Argus MT and XT kit, can hold up to 6.5mL of e-juice, with which we could vape 2-3 days before refilling (we’re high-volume vapers). While the kit also offers a 5ml glass container coming in handy when you need a smaller device.
The MAAT Tank New screws onto the airflow section. We can use the airflow slider to control how tight the airflow is for the Voopoo Argus MT. With bigger clouds in mind, Voopoo purposefully designs a cavernous air hole, about twice bigger than what we’ve seen in other vapes.
The tank adopts the most convenient top fill system. You refill simply by removing the mouthpiece that attaches to the top of the tank. There’re two fill ports sitting face to face, while the opening is a bit small. Don’t squeeze your e-juice bottle too hard in case the liquid will flow over.
Battery & Charging
The Voopoo Argus MT mod is powered by a 3000mAh battery. It’s a substantial one for any built-in battery devices; if you want an even more powerful battery, go for the single-18650 Argus XT. With such a large battery, this device isn’t going to discretely or comfortably fit in your pockets. Instead this device is designed for cloud chasers that are looking for a beefy device that can handle massive clouds and intense DTL hits.
The 3000mAh battery offers a very long battery life. We vaped 2-3 days before recharging. For more casual vapers, this vape could last over a week.
We recharged the Voopoo Argus MT mod through a Type-C port underneath the LED screen. The port is hidden behind a cover to protect the internal components and avoid dusts coming in. Just flit the cover down to charge and click the cover back into place when charging is complete. A short Type-C charging cable is provided, which is wonderful. Like other Voopoo devices, the screen switches to a unique charging screen that displays the charge percentage.
Considering the device has a large battery, it charges reasonably fast. You can go from 0 to 100% in roughly one hour.
Durability
The Argus MT device was clearly designed with durability in mind. From the covered charging port, to the quality components, and plastic tank, the Argus MT is going to last you a long time.
The device has received an IP68 rating meaning it protects against sand and dust infiltration and can be submerged for 30 minutes in water with a depth of 1.5 meters. If you purchase this device, it should be able to handle the abuses of daily use.
The device had no issues when dropped from a height of 5 feet, but because of the weight you definitely don’t want to make a habit of dropping the Voopoo Argus MT.
Does It leak?
Unfortunately, we did experience e-juice leakage when using the Voopoo Argus MT. The leaking was significant and even after replacing the coil, we still experience leaking with the Argus MT. That might possibly have something to do with its especially large air hole, and the position where it stands—the bottom of the tank. During the testing, we’ve got to wipe the e-juice off our device or fingers on the regular. This is a major drawback for Voopoo Argus MT. VooPoo claims the Argus MT is leakproof, but unfortunately, that wasn’t our experience.
Ergonomics
Despite being heavy, the Voopoo Argus MT is compact. Its barrel shaped body fits in the hand more comfortably than a traditional box style mod. The padded leather on the back of the device, where your hand naturally sits, adds great comfort when holding the device. The Argus MT fits in the hand nicely and the thumb doesn’t have to do any weird contorting to find the draw button.
Function
Voopoo uses the same function actions repeatedly in its vapes, so if you are familiar with their other products, you can easily pick up the Voopoo Argus MT. Rapidly press the Argus MT’s draw 5x to turn the device on and off. There is no auto-draw sensor in the device.
The Voopoo Argus MT kit has a convenient slider for locking the screen (directly below the screen and above the +/- buttons). The slider takes some force to switch from locked to unlocked. This provides more reassurance than combination of buttons, so when you lock the screen, you know it’s will stay locked.
To enter the settings menu, press and hold the plus and minus buttons simultaneously. When the Menu screen appears, use the plus and minus buttons to choose between Mode, Setting, About Device, and Exit. Then press the power button to select.
The are four modes you can choose from when using the Voopoo Argus MT:
- SMART– this mode detects the best power ranges to prevent the coil from burning, ideal for newbies;
- RBA– namely the variable wattage mode, you select a wattage anywhere between 5 and 100 watts;
- TURBO – Voopoo said it boosts the vapor amount during our first-second vaping;
- TC – supports three kinds of heating wire and the temperature can be adjusted.
Performance
The Voopoo Argus MT doesn’t play around when it comes to thick voluminous clouds and intense throat hits. The TPP-DM2 (0.2-ohm) and TPP-DM4 (0.3-ohm) mesh coils offer a smooth and satisfying DTL vaping experience. Each and every hit is warm and flavorful. The sliding airflow system allows you to set exactly how tight you want the DTL draw.
Cloud chasers might want higher-powered device; but as a mod starter kit in the 100W range, Voopoo Argus MT chucks out amazing clouds. The mesh coils have a great longevity, as we didn’t taste any hints of burning cotton during the testing period.
Ease of Use
The Voopoo Argus MT is easy to use right out of the box, as long as you are comfortable replacing coils. For anyone that has never had to install or replace a coil themselves, the User Manual is a great resource providing step-by-step instructions on how to get started with the Voopoo Argust MT. There is no need for new vapers to really delve into the extra features of the mod, until they are more familiar with vaping.
But refilling the tank is super easy and takes less than 60 seconds. The most difficult part of using the Argus MT is probably navigating the leaking. If you’ve used mod vapes before, you probably know a few tricks to reduce leaking, like not overfilling the device, but those that are new to vaping might struggle to keep the vape free of e-juice residue.

Considering the Voopoo Argus MT is a highly durable vape meant to last you for a long time and withstand the abuses or dirt and water, this seems very fairly priced. The battery is massive and the screen is beautiful. Voopoo certainly didn’t cut any corners with the Argus MT, even if the device leaks.
Verdict
The Voopoo Argus MT is the perfect mod vape for high-volume vapers and cloud chasers that want a highly durable device to survive their busy lives. With it, you don’t have to worry about a little dust or water, as the device has an IP68 rating. It’s easy to get started with the Voopoo Argus MT to start cranking out some huge clouds. The 0.2-ohm and 0.3-ohm coils supplied in the kit deliver fantastic flavor and strong throat hits. In most situations the 3000mAh battery is going last around 2 days before needing to recharge.
The body design is sleek and compact, as long as you are comfortable carrying around a hefty device. The faux leather is a nice touch, and the OLED screen is useful. Our main complaint with the Voopoo Argus MT was the leaking. Only you can decide if you’re willing to deal with leaking in exchange for the other features and benefits of the Voopoo Argus MT.
