How to Know When a Flum Pebble Is Empty

Know When Flum P03 28 09 35 20

With modern disposable vapes like the Flum Pebble, it’s getting harder and harder to know when your device is finished. You can’t just wait for the light to start blinking like you could in the past because almost every modern device is rechargeable. Also, today’s disposable vapes can last thousands of puffs before they run out of vape juice. By the time your Flum Pebble is empty, you may not even remember how many days ago you started using it.

So, how do you know when a Flum Pebble is empty? To determine when it’s time to recycle your device, you need to rely on your sense of taste. In this article, we’ll explain everything you need to know – and if you’re not happy with how long your Flum Pebble devices are lasting, stick around to the end of the article for some helpful tips.

Blinking Doesn’t Mean a Flum Pebble Is Empty

As we explained at the beginning of this article, you can’t just wait for your Flum Pebble to start blinking to know when it’s empty like you could with older non-rechargeable disposable vapes. In those days, a disposable vape generally lasted just a few hundred puffs. When the battery died, it was time to discard the device. Today, though, it’s different because just about every device on the market has a rechargeable battery. If your Flum Pebble blinks, it doesn’t mean the device is empty. Just connect the device to your computer to charge the battery.

When a Flum Pebble Is Empty, Its Flavor Changes

To determine conclusively when your Flum Pebble is out of e-liquid, all that you need to do is pay attention to the device’s flavor. When your device is empty, one of two things will happen.

  • Some devices stop producing vapor entirely. If your Flum Pebble isn’t hitting and isn’t blinking – and you’re certain that the battery is charged – you can safely assume that the device is out of e-liquid.
  • Some devices produce awful burnt flavors. If your Flum Pebble starts giving you dry hits every time you use it – even when you wait a few seconds between puffs – the device is definitely empty.

Note that when your Flum Pebble is empty, you’ll definitely have plenty of advance warning. Long before that happens, the flavor will start to change. You’ll notice significantly less intensity in your device’s flavor, and you may even notice a bit of a plastic-like note. This happens because the device’s wick is beginning to dry out. When your Flum Pebble starts to lose its flavor, you should plan to replace it very soon.

Can You Refill an Empty Flum Pebble?

We strongly recommend against trying to refill an empty Flum Pebble because the device has a snap-together clamshell design that’s intended to be nearly impossible to open. So, if you try to open your Flum Pebble for refilling, it’s highly likely that that you’ll break it in the process.

There are two additional reasons why trying to refill your Flum Pebble isn’t worth the effort.

  • These days, small refillable vapes like pod systems are just as inexpensive as disposables. If you want a device that you can refill, you’re going to have a much better experience if you just buy a refillable device.
  • Even if you’re able to refill your Flum Pebble successfully, the coil will begin to produce a burnt flavor eventually if that hasn’t happened already. Since the coil isn’t replaceable, there’s no way to fix a Flum Pebble once it begins tasting burnt.

If you want to try refilling your vape anyway, you’ll need to find a way to split the clamshell. You can do that by inserting a thin tool in the seam and twisting it to separate the device’s two halves, or you can force the halves apart by squeezing the device with vice grips.

How to Make a Flum Pebble Last Longer

You’re probably already aware that the Flum Pebble contains 14 ml of vape juice and can last up to 6,000 puffs. On the surface, that certainly sounds like a lot of puffs – but it’s important to remember that manufacturers arrive at the advertised puff counts for their devices by testing them with automatic smoking machines that puff for just one second at a time.

Understand What the Puff Count Really Means

If you’ve been using Flum Pebble vapes for a while and find that they never seem to provide the 6,000 puffs advertised, you shouldn’t be surprised if there’s a discrepancy between the marketing language and the reality because inhaling for exactly one second every time you puff on your vape is actually the exception rather than the rule. Increasing your puff length even a little can lead to a drastic reduction in the total number of puffs that the device delivers. For example, let’s suppose that you puffed on your device two seconds at a time. In this case, your Flum Pebble will deliver 3,000 puffs rather than 6,000. That’s a pretty big difference.

Pay Closer Attention to Your Usage

The other reason why your Flum Pebble vapes may seem like they don’t last as long as advertised is because you’re losing track of how often you vape. When you smoke cigarettes heavily, your body eventually tells you that you’ve had enough – you start to get a sore throat, or your lungs begin to ache. Vaping, on the other hand, tastes much better and has a smoothness that smoking lacks.

When you smoke, you also have the visual reminder that there are only so many cigarettes left in the pack. The Flum Pebble doesn’t give you that reminder; unless you’re tallying each session manually, you probably have no idea how many times you’ve puffed on the device. In that case, you shouldn’t be surprised if you feel like your vapes aren’t lasting long.

Of course, expecting yourself to tally each puff probably isn’t reasonable. Even if you prefer to take longer puffs when vaping, you can still expect to get more than 1,000 puffs out of a Flum Pebble. So, to make the device last longer, you should try to pay closer attention to how often you vape. If you use your Flum Pebble only when you would have smoked a cigarette instead of puffing on it constantly, you can reasonably expect to get days of use out of each device.
